1. Acceptance and eligibility

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Daily Bread Studio, Inc. (“Daily Bread Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing Praylight’s mobile applications, website, content, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By downloading, accessing, purchasing, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, your parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. You may not use the Services if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.

2. Accounts

You agree to provide accurate account information, keep it current, and safeguard your credentials. You are responsible for activity under your account unless caused by our breach of these Terms. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not sell, transfer, or share an account in a way that compromises its security.

You can delete your account from the app. Deletion is permanent and may remove saved chats, journals, prayer history, progress, preferences, and other account content. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription, which must be managed separately through Apple.

3. License and ownership

Subject to these Terms, Daily Bread Studio grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to install and use the Services for your own lawful, noncommercial purposes on devices you own or control, as allowed by applicable app-store usage rules.

The Services, including software, visual design, branding, original writing, compilations, and other materials, are owned by Daily Bread Studio or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited license above, no rights are granted to you. Bible text, artwork, trademarks, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to separate terms.

If you send ideas or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use them without restriction or compensation, provided we do not publicly identify you without permission.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Services, such as chat prompts, journal entries, notes, feedback, and images (“User Content”). You grant Daily Bread Studio a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, format, adapt, display, and otherwise process User Content only as reasonably needed to provide, personalize, secure, support, and improve the Services and to comply with law.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit User Content and that doing so does not violate law or another person’s privacy, publicity, copyright, or other rights. Do not upload confidential information or another person’s image without permission. We may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or creates risk for users or the Services, but we are not obligated to monitor all content.

5. AI, Scripture, and professional advice

Praylight uses artificial intelligence to generate Bible chat responses, daily journeys, summaries, and related material. AI output is generated probabilistically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or inconsistent with your faith tradition. Citations can be wrong. You are responsible for checking important statements against the biblical text and other trustworthy sources.

Praylight is a tool for reading and reflection. It does not provide pastoral, theological, medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and it does not create a clergy, counselor, therapist, doctor, attorney, fiduciary, or similar relationship. Traditions interpret Scripture differently. Nothing in the Services is a representation that a particular interpretation is authoritative for you or your community.

6. Prayer Lock and device features

Prayer Lock and related Screen Time features depend on Apple frameworks, device permissions, operating-system behavior, and settings outside our control. They may be delayed, unavailable, bypassed, or fail to block or unblock an app. You remain responsible for device use, access controls, deadlines, safety, and any consequences of relying on these features. Do not use Prayer Lock to restrict access to emergency, safety, medical, transportation, authentication, or other essential services.

7. Subscriptions and purchases

Some features may require a paid auto-renewing subscription or purchase. The price, billing period, trial terms, and included features shown at the time of purchase are part of these Terms. Taxes may apply. Apple processes App Store transactions, and its payment terms also apply.

  • Automatic renewal: a subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel through your Apple account settings before the renewal date.
  • Trials and promotions: unless stated otherwise, a trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends. Eligibility may be limited.
  • Cancellation: cancellation stops future renewal but generally does not end access before the current paid period expires.
  • Refunds: Apple controls App Store billing and refund requests. Except where law requires otherwise, payments are nonrefundable and we do not provide prorated credits.
  • Changes: features and pricing may change. Price changes take effect as permitted by Apple and applicable law.

8. Acceptable use

You may not, and may not help another person to:

  • use the Services unlawfully, fraudulently, abusively, or to harm, threaten, exploit, harass, or impersonate another person;
  • submit content that infringes rights, is illegal, or contains malware or harmful code;
  • probe, bypass, disable, or interfere with security, authentication, usage limits, access controls, or operation of the Services;
  • scrape, crawl, use automated means to access, or extract data from the Services except as expressly allowed by us or a published machine-readable policy;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from the Services except where law prohibits this restriction;
  • use the Services or their output to develop or train a competing model or service without our written permission;
  • misrepresent AI output as human-authored where that would deceive or harm another person; or
  • use the Services in a high-risk setting where an error could cause death, personal injury, or serious property or environmental harm.

You may report copyright, trademark, privacy, safety, or other rights concerns to team@prayerlight.com. Include enough detail for us to understand and investigate the concern.

9. Third-party services

The Services may integrate with or link to Apple, Google, OpenAI, Supabase, Superwall, Mixpanel, Bible-text sources, and other third-party products. Third parties may have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services. Your use of them is governed by their applicable agreements.

10. Changes and termination

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services, including free or paid features, subject to applicable law. We do not promise that any feature or content will always be available.

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms, create legal or security risk, fail to pay required fees, or if we discontinue the Services. Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and disputes.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated as required by law. By continuing to use the Services after updated Terms take effect, you agree to them. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services.

11. Disclaimers

12. Limitation of liability

These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where such limits are prohibited.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Daily Bread Studio and its directors, officers, employees, affiliates, and agents from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your User Content, your unlawful or unauthorized use of the Services, or your material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own negligence, willful misconduct, or violation of law.

14. Dispute resolution and arbitration

Informal resolution first

Before filing a formal claim, you and Daily Bread Studio agree to try to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days. Send a written notice describing the dispute and requested relief to the contact information in Section 17. We will send notices to the email associated with your account. Any limitations period is tolled during this 30-day process.

Binding individual arbitration

Except for the exceptions below, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services that is not resolved informally will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this agreement to arbitrate. A single neutral arbitrator may award the same individual remedies a court could award. Judgment on an award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

Arbitration may occur by video, telephone, written submissions, or in person in the county where you live, unless the parties agree otherwise. Fees will be allocated under AAA’s consumer rules and applicable law. We will not seek attorneys’ fees from you unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous or brought for an improper purpose.

Exceptions

Either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court if it qualifies. Either party may seek temporary or preliminary injunctive relief in court to prevent actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of intellectual-property, privacy, or data-security rights while arbitration is pending.

Class-action and jury-trial waiver

Right to opt out

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending a notice within 30 days after you first accept these Terms. Email team@prayerlight.comwith the subject “Arbitration Opt-Out” and include your full name, account email, mailing address, and an unambiguous statement that you opt out. You may also mail the notice to the address in Section 17. Opting out will not affect your access to the Services or any other part of these Terms.

If arbitration does not apply

If you timely opt out, or if a court finds that a particular claim cannot be arbitrated, that claim will be governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. You and Daily Bread Studio consent to those courts’ personal jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you cannot waive under the law where you live.

15. Additional Apple terms

If you downloaded the app from Apple’s App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Daily Bread Studio, not Apple. Daily Bread Studio, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content. Your license is limited to a non-transferable right to use the app on Apple-branded products you own or control as permitted by Apple’s usage rules, including use through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where permitted.

Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the extent any warranty exists and the app fails to conform to it, you may notify Apple for any refund of the purchase price Apple determines is due; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Daily Bread Studio, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal-compliance, consumer-protection, and intellectual-property claims.

You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism and are not listed on a U.S. Government prohibited or restricted parties list. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the Apple-specific provisions against you.

16. General terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Daily Bread Studio concerning the Services and replace prior agreements on that subject. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. If the class-action waiver in Section 14 is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim must proceed in court and be severed from any arbitration.

Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law. Neither party is liable for delay caused by events beyond reasonable control. Headings are for convenience only. “Including” means “including without limitation.”
